During two worship sessions at MC USA’s convention in Phoenix, there will be an opportunity to give to support initiatives directed at helping young people. The first, giving to the DREAM fund, has been mentioned earlier on this blog (check it out here). The second offering will be used as seed money to help produce Shine: Living in God’s Light, the children’s Sunday school curriculum being produced by MennoMedia for Mennonite Church USA, Mennonite Church Canada, and Church of the Brethren congregations.
As a historic peace church centered on Jesus Christ, we feel it is important to have our own, distinctly Anabaptist, Sunday school materials. However, producing such materials is expensive. MennoMedia does not have the reserve funds needed to hire the writers, project managers and illustrators up front.
Shine: Living in God’s Light is the new curriculum that will succeed Gather ’Round: Hearing and Sharing God’s God News in the fall of 2014. MennoMedia needs to raise $400,000 over four years for its share of development costs to produce this quality, Bible-story based curriculum.
Please help us to bless the next generation of children with Anabaptist resources that will nurture their faith and call them to follow Jesus’ way by coming to Phoenix prepared to give generously. A donation of $200 pays an illustrator to draw a picture depicting one of the Bible stories.
The staff of MennoMedia look forward to partnering with you in the all-important task of forming faith in our children.
