Hannah Heinzekehr, Convention Planning Coordinator

That’s right. Although it hardly seems possible, the Phoenix convention is under 400 days away and July 1-6, 2013 will be here before you know it. We, your friendly convention planning team, have been hard at work alongside local Phoenix partners, Mennonite Church USA staff from many different departments, and volunteers from all across the country to plan for an inspiring, challenging and rejuvenating event.

We have been hard at work on:

  • Planning worship, and tapping speakers, worship and music leaders who will be able to help us engage the theme: Citizens of God’s Kingdom: Healed in Hope. Read more about our theme and scripture verses for Phoenix here.
  • Meeting with local Mennonite pastors, non-profit organizations, and church leaders from other denominations throughout Phoenix to identity ways for us to engage and learn more about immigration and witness in Phoenix.
  • Identifying leaders for powerful learning experiences and seminars that will equip convention-goers for work and witness in their home communities.
  • Developing a new, improved website so that you all have easy access to photos, videos, and any information that you need as you plan your trip to Phoenix.

We hope that you will consider joining us in prayerful preparation for this event. Check back often for updated information on registration, special events at convention, speakers, opportunities for public witness and more. We will also be highlighting new videos and blog reflections each week from people across Mennonite Church USA.

We also want to hear from you. Follow us on Twitter and like us on Facebook, and feel free to share your stories and feedback with us.
